Dr. C. Steven McDaniel, Managing partner and Chief Innovation Officer
Dr. McDaniel is the founder and Chief Innovation Officer of Reactive Surfaces, since 2001. Dr. McDaniel received a Bachelor of Science in biology from the University of Texas in 1974, a master’s degree in genetics from Texas A&M University in 1976 and a Ph.D. in biochemistry from Texas A&M in 1985. He was a post-doctoral fellow at Baylor College of Medicine from 1985 to 1987, specializing in synthetic peptide chemistry. He obtained his law degree from the University of Houston in 1991. Afterward, Dr. McDaniel specialized in patent law and intellectual property litigation. Mr. McDaniel is a featured speaker on topics ranging from functional coatings to astrobiology and the use of functional coatings in space. Mr. McDaniel and his wife, Beth McDaniel are law partners in the firm, McDaniel and Associates, PC (www.techologylitigators.com), which serves as the law firm for Reactive Surfaces.

Dr. Shelby Thames, University of Southern Mississippi, Former University President- Consultant, Polymer Science
Dr. Shelby F. Thames drives the internationally-recognized polymer science research group known as Thames-Rawlins Research Group. Dr. Thames served as the eighth president of The University of Southern Mississippi from took office on May 1, 2002, continuing an illustrious career of 38 years at the University of Southern Mississippi. Mr. Thames' previous administrative positions at Southern Miss were chair of the Department of Polymer Science, dean of the College of Science and Technology, vice president for Administration and Regional Campuses, and Executive Vice President.
In 1970, Mr. Thames founded the Department of Polymer Science, and in 1973, he was co-founder of the Waterborne and High-Solids Coatings Symposium, an event that has expanded to the annual International Waterborne, High-Solids, and Powder Coatings Symposium in which he continues as its codirector. He sought and gained approval for the enhancement of the College of Science to the College of Science and Technology by creating several new technology programs.
Dr. Phil G. Phillips - Managing Director of The CHEMARK Consulting Group, Inc.
Dr. Phillips has held management positions as VP or Director of several large coatings & adhesives businesses prior to launching his consultancy career. He was Director of Marketing for DeSoto, VP Marketing for Whittaker Corp., Gen. Mgr. Powder Coatings for The Polymer Corporation (now Akzo-Nobel), VP/GM of M&T Chemical Corp., and GM of Celanese Powder Coatings.Dr. Phillips has a BS in Marketing from Un. Of Akron, MBA courses at Northwestern Kellogg School of Business and a PhD. in International Business from Warren National University. Dr. Phillips is a member of various industry associations including NPCA, SME, ASC, SPE and continues to be quoted in industry journal plus, writes a monthly column as Associate Editor for COATINGS WORLD magazine. Dr. Phillips serves on several boards and is a featured speaker on topics ranging from business concepts & models to trends affecting focused industries from both a regional and global perspective.
Beth McDaniel, JD- Owner, Chief of Administration
Beth McDaniel received her BBA in finance from the University of Texas in 1988, and in 1996, she received her JD in law from South Texas College of Law, and became licensed to practice law in the state of Texas. Ms. McDaniel has 25 years of business experience and 17 years of legal experience in areas ranging from business operations to labor issues to real estate and property sales, leasing, management and development. Ms. McDaniel serves as Vice President and Chief of Administration for Reactive Surfaces, assisting in implementing ongoing company business, business transactions, and office management. Beth is proud to have served as a Carl Wilkens fellow with iACT, an anti-genocide organization, Big Brothers and Big Sisters of Texas, and numerous other philanthropic organizations.
Dr. Mike Harris, CPA
Dr. Michael Harris is a tenured Professor of Accounting at St. Edward's University in Austin, Texas. His teaching emphasis is on financial, intermediate and advanced accounting, tax, and information systems with attention to development of critical thinking skills and ethical reasoning ability. Dr. Harris is also an independent accountant and consultant for a variety of small business owners, providing guidance in management information systems, taxation, and business planning. He is active in selection, design and installation of computer-based financial reporting systems, and in tax planning and compliance. Dr. Harris serves as a member of the Board of Directors and Treasurer of University Federal Credit Union and is Chair of the credit union Asset/Liability Management Committee, was Member of the Board of Directors and Chair of the Corporate Governance Committee, Bois d'Arc Energy (NYSE: BDE) from 2005 IPO to 2008 sale, and is a board member and officer of various currently operating companies.
